Essential Job Function:
-
Counsel registered TB patients in the assigned health facilities for treatment adherence and completion.
-
Counsel lost to follow up patients for continuing treatment
-
Counsel any refusing family members of the index TB patient for screening and LTBI treatment through home visits, where required
-
Counselling of RR patients who refused to get registered at PMDT sites
-
Counsel any patient refusing to take ATT medicines.
-
Maintain a record of patients counselled and followed up till outcome declaration
-
Facilitate DFS in follow-up and counselling of the refusals/ lost to follow-up patients and ensure treatment adherence and completion.
-
Facilitate DFS in the contact screening of index patients.
-
Facilitate District DHIS2 & MIS entries.
-
Participate in monthly data consolidation and validation activity.
-
Develop and follow the monthly work plan in coordination with the supervisor
-
Counselor will be placed in large private hospitals of the district on a rotational basis.

Counselor will visit households of TB (B +) patients for counseling of their families for screening and LTBI treatment (eligible members only) on a need basis
-
Monthly meeting with LPH Doctors for TPT advocacy.

Conduct training sessions/ provide support in capacity building/on-job training of field staff on communication and counseling skills on a regular basis

Ensure timely LTBI data collection and provision to SR for analysis
-
Prepare a field progress report based on the workplan and submit it on monthly basis
-
Any other task assigned by the supervisor.

Accountability
Reports Directly To: Regional Coordinator.
Works Directly With: Regional Coordinator; TB Screeners; Doctors; labs; Xpert Testing In-charge; Project Assistant; mobile van staff; sputum transportation riders; Operations, Finance and Data Management teams.

Minimum Qualification & Transferable Skills

Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of two years of experience, preferably in the development sector as a counsellor or in a similar role.

Qualified Psychologists will be given preference, provided they have relevant experience.

Excellent communication, writing, coordination, and training skills.
Success Factors
Must have strong communication and rapport-building skills. Must be a team player and be able to work proactively. Must be adaptable and flexible. Should be able to work under stress. Complete, accurate and timely documentation is critical to the success of this program.
